Narrative Description

It was on July 1981 when the idea to establish a barangay high school was conceptualized. Through hard work of the Barangay Council and the strong support system of highly respected individuals and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the neighboring barangays of Regador, San Isidro, and Bugtongbato, the Naisud Barangay High School was established.

The school began operations on July 1, 1982, under Temporary Permit No. 32, s.1981. The First Year Curriculum of the 1973 Revised Secondary Education Program was implemented in 1981 by Republic Act 2706. A total of 24 pupils enrolled all graduated on March 30, 1985.

In the school's first year of existence, the parents of the students pay a meager fee while at the time receiving complete financial support from the barangay council. Ms. Candasie Suan was the teacher in charge at that time. While under the supervision of Mr. Manuel Tumbocon, the principal of Naisud Elementary School, Ms. Suan received academic assistance. Hippocrates S. Motus was appointed school principal of Naisud National High School following the conversion of Naisud Barangay High School in compliance with the Nationalization Act of 1994.

Significance

Social: The school organizes several events like MAPEH Day, Intramural, Career Day, Heritage Month, among others, fostering a sense of community among the stakeholders and students. At some point, barangay assembly meetings and other barangay-directed activities were held in the school.

When the Naisud Covered Pavement wasn't yet built, barangay assembly meetings were held in the school. Additionally, the school served as a distribution point for the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) during the pandemic for the residents in the neighborhood.

Economic: Residents of Naisud and the adjacent barangays had the opportunity to receive an education, which led to a better standard of life.

Aesthetic: The school has its unique ambiance due to the presence on the campus of fruit-bearing trees like Java Plum, rose apple, star apple, mango, jackfruit, and many more. Aside from that, the seaside location adds a breezy atmosphere, especially during the northeast monsoon season.

Assessment of the Institution

Condition/Status of the Institution

"Hugod Naisud!" is the official motto of Naisud National High School as the institution remains committed to helping students in the 21st century by giving them high-quality instruction and relevant learning opportunities in preparation for a life outside of the academe.

The truth is that the epidemic hasn't lessened the teachers' intense passion to help their students reach their full potential and to constantly give them the best services possible. Because of the school's stellar reputation and low dropout rates in the years prior to the pandemic, the students selected Naisud National High School. The students also state that they chose this school because we offer a range of sports that they can play and develop their skill set, mental health, and sense of self in order to get ready for college. The students also mentioned that their parents chose the university because its graduates have achieved success both domestically and abroad in the field of education and skill. In addition to these, the principal, instructors, and staff at the school, as well as the school grounds, are welcoming, giving the students a very comfortable, laid-back, and congenial environment in which to learn and become ready for the future. In fact, other students moved in from other institutions because of the school's good and promising performance in sports including basketball, sepak takraw, boxing, wushu, and arnis, which has sent student-athletes to regional and national competitions.

Constraints/Threats/Issues/Challenges:

The poor internet connection is one of the biggest obstacles faced throughout the teaching-learning process. In addition, the lack of access to devices as extra learning tools prevents other students from learning. Work-related absences particularly among SHS students as well as reading difficulties because of the modular distance learning system are some of the major problems among students.

Measures and Description of Safeguarding Measures Taken

Due to the presence of piso-wifi, the connectivity issue is somehow eased. Moreover, to support the learning process, digital and physical resources were provided to students who did not have gadgets and had jobs. To motivate students, teachers also visit homes, talk with parents, and recognize students' accomplishments, from the most basic to the most promising. The Reading Remediation Program-BASA Buddy was implemented by the school's English teachers as part of a project to help struggling readers perform better in class.
