With the aim of valuing and reestablishing a connection with our past and creating a legacy for future generations, Project PAARAG is symbolically buoyed in Akean River, which is important as the source of Aklan's life, culture, and history. The 19 districts of the Division of Aklan have rich, noteworthy cultural heritages, notable individuals, and a rich history that must be recognized, documented, and preserved.
This website is a companion of coffee-table book, released in limited numbers, to the districts in the Division of Aklan. This endeavor is a community-based, participatory research project that goes beyond cultural mapping. We want to rewrite and connect history to unfold our valued heritages. Through local empowerment, we hope to elevate our worldviews, indigenous knowledge systems, and practices to a central position in nation building.
