Significance
Historical
Mrs. Helen Lomugdang Gonzales was the School Principal when Makato Elementary School was approved as Makato Integrated School. Through the able partnership, strong determination, and combined efforts of Hon. Ramon B. Legaspi Jr., Municipal Mayor, SB Member Nerli F. Dela Cena, Chairperson–Committee on Education, and Mrs. Roselyn R. Ruiz, District Supervisor of Makato, and Hon. Eufemio G. Dela Cena, Brgy. Captain of Poblacion, Makato.
The move to convert Makato Elementary School into Makato Integrated School successfully came to reality through the untiring efforts made by Mrs. Helen Lomugdang Gonzales when she submitted the required documents to the higher officials through channels from the Division Office of Aklan to the Regional Office up to the office of the President Gloria Macapagal–Arroyo. While processing the papers, the school first accommodated the Grade VI pupils who can’t afford to enroll in private schools due to financial constraints- a scheme by which to ensure the sustainability of the educational process among schoolchildren and for the target of reaching zero (0) rate of dropouts and out of school youth. The strong desire of giving education to young Makaton-ons was made possible by the great efforts made by the municipal Mayor, Hon. Ramon B. Legaspi, Jr. who solicited support from Filipino–Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Aklan Chapter, and a four–room classroom building was constructed in preparation to open its doors for incoming Grade VII students for the S.Y. 2006–2007.
