DESCRIPTION
Physical Description
The Marcos building is a one-storey structure to the left as you enter the school grounds of Old Buswang Bakhaw Sur Elementary School. Three classrooms make up the structure and are painted with the shade of beige and green at present. The building's classrooms all have dropped ceilings that rise 2.64 meters above the floor. The windows have a horizontal grill style which measures 2.70 by .04 m that naturally ventilates and gives a bright ambiance inside the classroom.
There are numerous flowering plants along the path leading to the classrooms in the Marcos building that will undoubtedly make you feel the fresh air wind.
History of the Site
“The property was built in 1963 to offer classrooms that were suitable to study. Old Buswang and Bakhaw Sur barangays were combined to comply with the school's construction”, claims Kagawad Mardy I. Gonzales, a graduate of the institution. The construction was funded by the Department of Education under the national budget under the leadership of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
The children in the kindergarten and first graders were housed in three classrooms in the Marcos pre-fabricated building of Old Buswang Bakhaw Sur Elementary School at present.
STORIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE SITE
Hon. Mardy also said that the majority of the children his age used to call the location as their second home. He and his companions had fond memories of the location from Boy Scout camping events and other sports-related activities. Despite their youthful stubbornness, the site evolved into a safe space where students could study with their teachers.
The Kagawad even recalled frightening their classmates with the thought of engkantos’ presence in front of the location that is now the Home Economics. They were paranoid at times because they could hear moving objects coming from inside.
SIGNIFICANCE
Historical
For some locals, the site became a history of their achievements in politics, such as Barangay Captain Ebesate, who long served the residents of Bakhaw Sur.
Aesthetic
The site continue to be used as a tool for learning as well as for preserving nature's beauty. Each classroom was thoughtfully created to provide a warm and healthy atmosphere to inspire the community preserve the beauty of nature.
Social/Economic
The site served an important purpose not just for learners but also for those who were experiencing disasters. According to Kagawad, the classrooms in the building were used as evacuation area during typhoons such as Frank, Ursula and Undang. The classrooms on the otherhand served as a learning environment for everyone to develop social awareness and excellent communication skills.
Political
Aside from the knowledge that students gained from the various disciplines, the classroom in public schools plays a key role in politics because it continues to be used during elections.
Spiritual
The curriculum being used in the classroom incorporates the Department of Education’s fundamental values; maka-Diyos, maka-Tao, maka-Kalikasan at maka-Bansa. Children are taught to pray and to believe in God in order to help them prepare for life holistically. As a result, the site significantly contributes to each learner's spiritual development..

Repainting is yearly done during the Brigada Eskwela in order to preserve the beauty of the site.
CONSTRAINTS/THREATS/ISSUE
The classrooms are vulnerable to theft because the construction site is close to the departure gate. The site's natural location in a flood-prone area contributes to the deterioration of the building's physical elements.
CONSERVATION MEASURES
The annual Brigada Eskwela initiative helps in making the area and the school more attractive overall.
