After he completed his elementary education, he began assisting his father in planting fruit bearing trees, vegetables, and root crops in their property. The majority of the products they acquired were donated to the people. He then found the love of his life and was married at the age of twenty – five (25) to Honorata S. Sanguillosa. Their marriage was blessed with eight (8) children five (5) of whom are boys and three (3) of whom are girls. Furthermore, his love for his family and the community drove him to run for brgy. Captain position, which he was fortunately elected in the 1960s, and later designated as president of the Association of Barangay Captains in the said district in 1965. Prior to this, he was elected as a Councilor of the Municipality of Nabas. His generosity and love for people had a significant impact on the community. Some of his notable contributions include: donating the 10,000 square meters of land for the Laserna Elementary School, now Laserna Integrated School, as requested by Santiago Montoya, a resident of the said barangay. He also contributed significantly to the development of San Lorenzo Diacono Parish Church. In the same manner, he spearheaded the petition of the residents of Sitio Cumarascas of barangay Gibon to constitute themselves as unit of the government. It was later then approved and the once Sitio Cumarascas is now brgy. Laserna, Nabas, Aklan in honor to his father, Simplicio S. Laserna in the year 1968.
