B. History of the Structure (Write the history of construction, use/function of the building over the years, history of intervention)
The Barrio Council Officials of Bugasongan, Lezo, Aklan, through the leadership of our former Barrio Captain Teresita A. Fulgencio, together with her councilmen, Fidel Taran, Paquito Luces, Simeon Severo, Juan Cahilig, Encarnacion Leonardo, and Tarcela De Manuel, together with the Municipal Development Officer Leodegario Diangson Elias, initiated a Community Center Project, which was constructed and funded in 1968 through the Rural Improvement Community Development Fund under the administration of President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Governor Jose B. Legaspi, Congressman Rafael B. Legaspi, and Municipal Mayor Saturnino G. Fernandez. The purpose of this Community Center Project is to be the place where they can have their sessions, and it also serves as their health center.
III. STORIES ASSOCIATED WITH THE STRUCTURE
Bugasongan Elementary School found out that the land for this Community Center Project was under their jurisdiction. The Barrio Council Officials bought land intended to build a Barangay Hall so that they could transfer. After they transferred, our former Barrio Captain Teresita A. Fulgencio wanted to convert this Community Center Project into their Senior Citizen Office. The Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Radney Baylosis Jumuad and one of the Division Personnel visited her and explained that she cannot convert this Community Center Project into their Senior Citizen Office because the land is under the jurisdiction of Bugasongan Elementary School. For the reason that the classroom of Bugasongan Elementary School is insufficient, according to Mrs. Susanie D. Silverio, a teacher in Bugasongan Elementary School, they converted this Community Center Project into a classroom in 1998, and it became a Kindergarten Classroom in 2000. Through the leadership of Mrs. Wenefreda U. Taran, former Head Teacher III of Bugasongan Elementary School, she worked out this Community Center Project with the barangay to turn it over to the DECS/DepEd through a Parent Teacher Association resolution, and in 2009, she renovated it and made it a Principal’s Office. The floor, design and structure, terrace, and flower box are not renovated.
IV. SIGNIFICANCE
Historical. The Principal’s Office of Bugasongan Elementary School has historical significance; we can see a marker where we can see the names of the people who initiated the building. It is important, especially for the teachers, pupils, and stakeholder groups who want to know the real story of how they converted this Community Center Project into the Principal’s Office.
Aesthetic. From the terrace, visitors can see the authenticity of the floor, which was not renovated.
Social. It is important for the faculty of the Bugasongan Elementary School to have a principal's office since it serves as both a general welcoming area for guests and a place to keep sensitive or other significant data.
V. CONSERVATION
A. STATUS/CONDITION OF STRUCTURE:
- [√] In good condition
- [ ] deteriorated

- 2. [ ] moved [√] original site
C. CONSTRAINTS/THREATS/ISSUE:
The Principal’s Office at Bugasongan Elementary School is too small and not as expansive as the Principal’s Office.
D. CONSERVATION MEASURES:
The Barrio Council Officials and DepEd have agreed that the barangay will not accept the Community Center Project because of this land owned by DepEd. Since the time that the barangay has its own lot and barangay hall out of the campus, the administrators are the ones who preserved the building. There are renovations being made to preserve it.
VI. LIST OF SIGNIFICANT TANGIBLE MOVABLE HERITAGE (within the premises of the built heritage):
No. | Name of Object | Photo | Year produced or estimated age | Dimensions | Material |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
NOTE: There is no tangible movable heritage left within the premises of the Principal’s Office because our school is in a flood-prone area, there have been several floods in our school already, and the materials preserved a long time ago were already ruined, broken, or damaged by a natural calamity, which is a flood.
